Jumoke, a Yoruba yoghurt seller, was killed by bullets reportedly fired by a security operative dispersing agitators at Ojota, Lagos State.
According to our correspondent, the girl’s stomach had been ripped open by bullets. According to her, she is 14 years old.
When the bullet struck her, she was displaying drinks in a shop.
A crowd gathered at the spot as a piece of cloth was draped over her body.
While there is a heavy presence of armed police and soldiers around Gani Fawehinmi Park, Ojota, Lagos, agitators of Yoruba nation have started coming out.
“No going back,” “We want Hodua Nation,” and other freedom songs were chanted by the protestors.
So far, security agents have not interfered with the rally.
In an address to journalists, Hakeem Odumosu, the Commissioner of Police, acknowledged the presence of the agitators just before 11.20 am.
As some of the agitators told newsmen, it is time for the Yoruba ethnic group to have a separate nation since they share little with any other ethnic group.
