2023: I Won’t Allow Politicians Bully Nigerians – Buhari

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari stated on Tuesday that the country would take measures to prevent intimidation and humiliation of voters in the next 2023 election by those in power or with more resources.

The President made this statement while hosting the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, led by PGF Chairman and Kebbi State Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu.

We would not tolerate anyone in Nigeria using their power or wealth to intimidate their fellow citizens. We will not tolerate any form of intimidation, whether it be financial, moral, or physical. What we need is this sort of leadership to arise and unite our country.

“In six months, Nigerians will realise the government of APC that we are honest and that we respect them,” he continued.

In a statement released by his spokesman, Femi Adesina, President Buhari called on the political leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to “think, meet, and strategize for the 2023 elections.”

The President explained why he was a firm believer in non-interference in politics, saying that it lent legitimacy to the electoral process, guaranteed participation and inclusivity, and demonstrated that the ruling APC respected the will of the voters.

Using the results of elections in Ekiti, Anambra, and Osun States as examples, he assured Nigerians that the APC would continue to leave behind strong political institutions that reflected their choices through non-interference in elections.

President Buhari has promised that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will uphold the dignity of the Nigerian people under his leadership by continuing to guarantee the validity of every vote and the importance of every citizen’s opinion in the selection of government officials at all levels.

I want the Nigerian people to know how much we value and value their opinions by allowing them to vote for anybody they choose. What occurred in Anambra, Ekiti, and Osun States was seen by all of us. The events in those states encourage me much that we will ultimately be successful.

After noting that the Nigerian economy has been developing despite problems, the PGF Chairman congratulated the President for his leadership, saying that he had been guided by wisdom and foresight.

We’re happy to report that the economy continued its upward trend in the second quarter, expanding by 3.5% after a 3.1% gain in the first. Bagudu said, “The social intervention plan is increasing, and infrastructure projects are underway in various sections of the country.”

According to the governor, the growth trajectory had defied the early expectations of certain multilateral institutions, and he confirmed that the World Bank and others had recognised the resilience of the economy and revised their stances accordingly.

Drought has hit Europe and China right now, Your Excellency. The economic costs of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine are rising. Electricity is being rationed in the United Kingdom, and there are reports of power outages in China.

Because of floods in locations like Jigawa State, some nations have banned food exports, but we are getting ready for increased output. We have taken notice of the release instruction for 40,000 metric tonnes of grain.

We also take note of the initiatives to increase security and decrease oil theft, he added.

Several APC governors, according to the PGF Chairman, will be running for reelection in 2023 because of their successful track records during their first term.

As a note, we took note of ASUU’s statement. During our time in Daura, the President made an impassioned plea to ASUU, urging them to think about the students of the future. We won’t think about that right now. Bagudu further stated that his side was willing to engage in resolution talks with anyone.

The governor of Kebbi State praised Boss Mustapha, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, and Professor Ibrahim Gambari, the President’s Chief of Staff, for their reliability and leadership.
