The event occurred less than 24 hours after the party began selling forms.
The party moved its form sales from its national secretariat to the International Conference Centre (ICC) in Abuja on Thursday.
Barr Felix Morka, APC National Publicity Secretary, explained that the location was relocated to the ICC to alleviate excessive human and vehicular traffic outside the secretariat.
Additionally, he stated that the $50,000 taken Wednesday from the party’s national secretariat did not belong to the party.
“On Wednesday, April 27, 2022, an individual reported losing $50,000 at the party’s national secretariat’s entry gate.”
“To be clear, the party does not own the money that was lost. The loss is unrelated to the revenues from the selling of forms or to the ICC’s transfer of the place for the gathering of expressions of interest and nomination forms from the secretariat grounds to the ICC, as the media incorrectly claimed.
“As publicly promoted and covered in various news outlets, all forms purchases must be made payment to the party’s authorised bank accounts. In any case, the charge for the aforementioned forms is fixed and priced in Naira, not USD.
“We strongly advise our party members and the broader public to dismiss any stories or suggestions to the contrary as being incorrect and extremely deceptive,” the party stated.
