Two members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have called their colleagues to unite against the party’s national leader, Senator Abdullahi Adamu.

The National Vice Chairman (North West), Salihu Mohammed Lukman, and the National Vice Chairman (South West), Isaac Kekemeke, warned Adamu on Tuesday in Abuja against making unilateral decisions in the name of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Our correspondent claims that a NWC meeting has been postponed twice without explanation at a time when political activity is at its highest.

A portion of the statement reads, “As members of the NWC who have the mandate of our members, we hereby serve notice to His Excellency, Abdullahi Adamu, and through him to all APC leaders that henceforth, any decision taken by the National Chairman or any other party functionary, which require the approval of the NWC as enshrined in the APC constitution, will be considered illegitimate and an infringement on the jurisdictional scope of the NWC,

“At the 26 March 2022 National Convention, no NWC member is elected to fill seats or offices in the National Secretariat. We thus call on all our colleagues in the NWC to rise to these trying circumstances by joining forces with us to salvage our great party and return it to its fundamental objective of advancing Nigeria based on an honest, fair, just, and selfless dedication to party building. Blessed be our party!

“Within just two months of the tenure of the new leadership of our great party, APC, led by His Excellency, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, the National Working Committee (NWC), the organ of the party charged with managing the day-to-day affairs, including implementing decisions of the National Executive Committee (NEC), as stipulated in Article 13.4 of the APC Constitution, has been rendered redundant.

“The National Chairman makes unilateral decisions. He uses the name of our leader, President Muhammadu Buhari, to bully NWC members into adopting his judgments when it suits him. Attempts to convince the Chairman to respect the authority of the NWC as elected by the APC National Convention on March 26, 2022 are proving difficult, if not impossible. Note that the NEC delegated its authority to the NWC and not to the National Chairman or any other individual.

“As a party, we have endured sufficient court disgrace as a result of needless leadership violations of our party’s constitution and rules. We are constrained to issue this statement as a result of the National Working Committee (NWC) meetings being postponed twice within 48 hours.”
