Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has stated that he is still seeking a running partner.
Tinubu, who has been in the news since the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) released candidate information for the 2023 election, spoke during the presentation of “Mr Speaker,” a book in honor of Femi Gbajabiamila, speaker of the House of Representatives.
On the INEC Form CF001 that Tinubu submitted on June 17, 2022, the sections for his primary and secondary schools were left blank. In addition, he did not include copies of his certifications, which he claimed in an affidavit were stolen.
This sparked rumors that the APC candidate was concealing information or was uncertain about his qualifications.
The Center for Reform and Public Advocacy had demanded in a letter to the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba Alkali, that Tinubu be arrested and prosecuted within 48 hours for alleged perjury.
But speaking in Abuja at an event commemorating Gbajabiamila’s 60th birthday, Tinubu stated that the search for his running mate was underway.
Shauntv alleged that he used Katsina politician Ibrahim Masari as a stand-in to beat the INEC deadline.
Tinubu praised the working relationship between Gbajabiamila and his deputy, Hon. Ahmed Wase, at the event honoring Gbajabiamila, stating that he needed to learn from them.
Thank you, Femi, for contributing to the growth of our democracy by your resolve and tenacity. You have personality. You are an excellent mentor, and you are doing an excellent job of paving the way to success. You have performed admirably, and I say thank you, thank you.
“What you did at my elementary school is a tale for another time. People may be bored, envious, or jealous because I’ve spent too much time and repeated my actions too frequently. I won landslide, I thank you.
“I could also see his deputy (Wase) seated there; you are excellent examples of unity, reliability, and integrity; thank you. Thank you for you both. You have not made waves. Because I’m still looking for my running partner, I’ll need to learn from both of you how you made your partnership work.”
