Prof. Rufai Ahmed Alkali, the national chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has warned Nigerians not to vote for Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), because Tinubu will be a sleeping president.
Over the weekend, an image of Tinubu sleeping at the castle of the Emir of Gombe went viral.
As part of a two-day social media training for the party’s zonal publicity secretaries, state publicity secretaries, leaders of various social media groups working with the party, and media aides of the party’s presidential and vice presidential candidates, Alkali told journalists in Abuja on Tuesday that NNPP was working hard to win the 2023 presidential election.
He questioned how a presidential contender could be sleeping so early in the campaign. As a result, if he is elected, you will have a president who spends the next four years in bed. You want a dozing president, don’t you? Have faith in him, would you say?
Another of his statements was, “Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso is a guy of substance; he is a man of courage; a man of determination; and a man who has already made so much of an impact in his life.”
Pollsters predicting the success of candidates from the major political parties in the upcoming 2023 elections were also criticised by the national chairman.
In the meantime, Tinubu has assured the public that, should he be elected president of Nigeria in 2023, he will not let them down.
These remarks were made on Tuesday, in Abuja, at a media briefing on the state of the nation and other political problems held by the Northern Alliance Committee (NAC).
Through his media aide Mr. Tunde Rahman, Tinubu explained that he will be running for president of Nigeria in 2023 not only because he wants to, but also because many Nigerians have repeatedly asked him to.
There have been so many requests for him to run that he cannot refuse the will of the Nigerian people. “He’s competent, emotionally stable, and he wouldn’t let anyone down,” he said.
Tinubu’s election as president will be beneficial for Nigeria and its people, according to the director of social media and PR, Ibrahim Madugu.
