Voting for the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the forthcoming general elections is critical to ensuring continuity in the politics and regional stability, says President Muhammadu Buhari.

While meeting with a team from Nasarawa State led by Governor Abdullahi Sule, President Muhammadu Buhari said this on Friday.

Off-season elections in Anambra, Ekiti and Osun States have reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to credible and violence-free votes in Nigeria, he added.

High-ranking delegation members were briefed by President Muhammadu Buhari’s spokesman, Femi Adesina, on the importance of the country’s new Electoral Act, which was signed by him earlier this year.

President Obama has made it clear that he and this administration’s top goal is to ensure that our country’s elections are free, fair and credible.

The 2023 elections, in my opinion, should be a watershed moment in our electoral system’s ability to hold fair, credible, and violence-free elections.

For our party to build on its seven-year success, we will have a chance to persuade voters at the upcoming general elections of the importance of continuity. To ensure that our party returns to power in 2023, the people and government of Nasarawa State must play a major role, as they have done in previous elections. The West African Sub-Region as a whole will benefit from this, not only Nigeria.

Nasarawa, which is close to President Muhammadu Buhari’s heart, symbolises optimism and commitment in the attempts to re-establish democracy in Nigeria, the president remarked.

For him, the State stood out in 2011 general elections for compensating political efforts in Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), rejecting manipulation and making sure that their opinions mattered. He described this in great detail.

When Governor Tanko Al-Makura was inaugurated in May 2011, I was there to show my respect and affection for the people of Nasarawa State. For the APC, this state has consistently been one of its strongest bastions in 2015 and 2019.

The APC government, the people of the state, and this broad representation of your delegation will not fail me as we continue our combined efforts to push forward the boundaries of good governance in our country,” he said.
