Governor of Ogun State Dapo Abiodun stated on Friday that he is the state’s leader due to the “confidence” of the people.

Dapo Abiodun comments were made a day after the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) publicly stated that Abiodun would not have been elected governor without his help.

In what appeared to be a veiled rebuttal to Tinubu, Abiodun posted on his official Twitter account, “I am by no means an emperor, nor is this my family’s legacy.

“I hold this position in trust for all the citizens of this state, and I have sworn to be fair, just, and equitable; this is the sacred pact I made with the Almighty.”

The former governor of Lagos State Bola Tinubu is in the state to meet with APC delegates ahead of next week’s presidential primaries.

Governor Abiodun endorsed Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, a fellow presidential candidate and native of the state, last month.

Tinubu, addressing the gathering in Yoruba amidst applause, stated, “I’ve been serving them for approximately 25 years.” This individual who sits behind me, Dapo (indicating Governor Abiodun), can he boast about being Governor without my assistance?”
