Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), stated that he poured out his heart when he believed that people were ganged up against him in the campaign for the ruling party’s nomination.
A few days before the primaries, Tinubu made news by boasting that he lured President Muhammadu Buhari out of political retirement and made him president.
The former governor of Lagos also claimed that he appointed Dapo Abiodun as the governor of Ogun State and proposed Yemi Osinbajo for the vice presidency.
Bola Tinubu made the assertions in the presence of the governor of Ogun State and other delegates who applauded him.
Sunday, when paying a visit to the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, at his palace, the Presidential Candidate stated that he was nearly exhausted at one point.
“Despite the state’s contribution to Nigeria’s national stability and progress, no Lagos native has ever had the opportunity to become president. The highest national leadership position attained by a Lagosian is that of Chief Judge of the Federation.
“I engaged in combat to break this jinx. The campaign for the APC nomination was intense. When I was nearly exhausted, I turned to prayer. When I believed that a group was conspiring against me, I also vented my thoughts. God bless me for bringing home the presidential ticket.
“The challenge at hand is to motivate our citizens to obtain their voter identification cards and vote in order to realise this objective. Getting our citizens to the polls is the most essential responsibility before us all.
“We must convey this message to all of our communities and educate them on the importance of voting in the next general elections,” he stated.
Tinubu defeated thirteen other candidates to win the party’s presidential nomination at the Special National Convention held in Abuja.
He won with 1,271 votes in total.
