Pastor Tunde Bakare, Presiding Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, previously Latter Rain Assembly, has finally congratulated Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential primary.
Tunde Bakare, who competed in the primary but received no votes, refused to move aside for Tinubu.
Bakare, who in 2019 said God informed him he would succeed President Muhammadu Buhari, said he wears his zero vote with confidence during a news conference at his church on Sunday.
According to him, he is content despite receiving zero votes since he has not compromised the values he has developed for a new Nigeria.
Tunde Bakare stated that Tinubu’s selection as the party’s candidate is a reflection of his “major contributions to the direction of the South West and his labour in establishing the APC.”
Bakare, while remaining “audaciously confident” that a new Nigeria is conceivable, pleaded to God to bless the nation with “a leader who is not in love with money but with justice, and a leader who is not in love with notoriety but with humanity.”
“I extend him my best wishes as he embarks on his campaign train for the 2023 general elections,” he said.
He praised his family and friends across the nation for their unwavering support during the primary’s difficult periods.
Bakare, Tein Jack-Rich, a businessman, Ikeobasi Mokelu, a former minister, and Rochas Okorocha, a sitting Senator, are the unsuccessful presidential candidates.
