Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, leader of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), has stated that he has yet to see a credible aspirant from the South East running for president of Nigeria in 2023.

He stated that the highest ambition of many of them is to become vice president.

Uwazuruike, speaking against the backdrop of criticism surrounding his support for the presidential ambitions of Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, stated that as a Nigerian and an adult, he has the constitutional right to support anyone he chooses.

Uwazuruike stated, “There is no Igbo candidate for president.” All of the individuals you see are imposters. They cannot approach me since they are aware that I recognise them. No male Igbo. I reiterate is running for president. All of them must vow that they will not travel to the North to lobby for vice president.

“Northern sources have informed me that all those vying for the presidency are actually pursuing the vice presidency. I chuckled because I recognise them. None of the individuals you are currently supporting are sincere. They are all seeking the vice presidency; I challenge them all, from A to Z. They are impostors. They can deceive you, but they cannot deceive me.”

MASSOB’s leader described the claim that he was summoned to Abuja as a fabrication of someone’s mind, stating, “This report that I was summoned to Abuja to justify myself over my support for someone is a hoax.

There is nothing comparable. First and foremost, what I did was my fundamental right to support anybody I choose. During an election, I am free to vote for anyone. Therefore, nobody can compel me to appear and explain why I support a particular individual, as that individual also supports another individual. I’m shocked that individuals at the forefront of the Biafran fight are also the ones bearing Nigerian politics on their shoulders. No one has therefore summoned me, and no one can summon me in the first place.”

He stated that although he is among those who want Biafra to become a reality, he is not among those who believe there would be no election.
