Thousands of members of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) have backed Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, a former Lagos State Governor, as the party’s presidential candidate.
The group from 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory has scheduled a major gathering in the FCT on Thursday to show their support for the party’s national leader.
Barrister Adamu Abubakar, the secretary of the planning committee, told reporters on Monday that the exercise will be the mother of all demonstrations in the country’s history.
According to him, adolescents and women from the northern states and the Federal Capital Territory would descend in large numbers on the nation’s capital.
The march will end at the Aso Villa, where Tinubu will be introduced as President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor.
Tinubu was chosen because of his amazing pedigree, expertise, and credentials, according to Abubakar.
He said the former Lagos governor is well-liked and respected, particularly in the north, where he ranks second only to President Buhari in terms of cult followership.
Abubakar further stated that the APC leader will continue the president’s infrastructure progress, economic reforms, and other notable legacies.
As a result, he urged other young men and women from the north to rally around Tinubu.
