The global leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo has informed President Muhammadu Buhari that the South East will not accept any presidential candidate from the country’s northern area prior to the June 6, 7, and 8 All Progressives Congress primaries.

The group stated that it would be appreciative if the president anointed any of the APC presidential candidates of Igbo descent.

If another northern aspirant emerges as the party’s standard-bearer in 2023, the APC would lose the presidential race, according to the apex social cultural body.

Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, secretary-general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, disclosed this information in a statement released on Thursday and made accessible to our correspondent in Abakiliki.

He stated, “We have seen the second Niger Bridge, which is 90% complete, and we are very grateful to President Muhammadu Buhari for that. However, the Igbo country will be forever beholden to Mr. President if he endorses a southerner from the Igbo block to succeed him in 2023.”

“Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide therefore appeals to the APC and the leader of the ruling party, President Muhammadu Buhari, to choose peace, unity, and harmony above all other primordial considerations as the selection of an Igbo from the southeast or an Ikwerre from Rivers State, which is the best medicine to heal and unite Nigeria.

“However, the PDP’s imposition of another northern presidency in 2023 will not be welcomed by not only the Igbos, but also 70 percent of other Nigerians, including the North.”

“Therefore, an Igbo presidential candidate within the APC will put an end to the burgeoning secessionist agitation of the indigenous People of Biafra, since nothing is more vital than unifying the country with an Igbo as Buhari’s successor.”
Isiguzoro emphasised that it would be dishonest to forsake the notion of power rotation in Nigeria, which has not yet outgrown the Quota System and Federal Character.

Moreover, he reminded the president that the four Igbo presidential candidates have the enthusiasm and experience to inspire hope, promote national unity, enforce security, and generate widespread wealth if given the chance to lead the nation.

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State, former Minister of Science and Technology Dr.Ogbonnaya Onu, former Governor of Imo State Chief Rochas Okorocha, Senator Ken Nnamani, and former Minister of Transportation Chief Rotimi Amaechi were among the APC presidential candidates of Igbo descent.
