Peter Obi, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential candidate in the 2019 election, has picked the party’s nomination and declaration of interest forms to compete for the presidency in 2023.
Obi will now face off against his former employer, ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who had already established himself as a contender for the same job.
The Like Minds (LM), led by Ekene Nwakuche, were the ones that bought the form.
Nwakuche, speaking immediately after acquiring the forms, said they are a group of young Nigerian professionals who believe the government is not on the right track and that the country requires “a seasoned technocrat who can lead the country’s affairs in the correct path.”
Things will be better, he continued, if the government can reduce the cost of governing, “and we feel Peter Obi is the one who can accomplish it.”
“We want the country to progress ahead,” stated the group, which included professionals, businessmen, public workers, various categories of contractors, and craftsmen. We feel Peter Obi can lead it forward, and we have faith in him because of what he accomplished as governor of Anambra. And, according on what we’ve heard him say, he has the experience necessary to take Nigeria to the promised land.
“We’re doing this for the sake of our kids.” Because I’m not sure where we’ll be in 2023 if we don’t get it right this time. Everyone in this room is aware of the state of the country, and we all desire a better Nigeria. If you are from Nigeria, whether you are from the north, south, east, or west, I think you want a better Nigeria.”
The leader stated that they are collaborating with other organizations such as Take Back Nigeria, which has pledged to mobilize 10 million votes in support of the PDP and Peter Obi.
“The Nigerian dream that we’re all seeking may be realized, and the only person we feel can provide us with the Nigerian dream is Mr. Peter Gregory Obi,” he stated.
