In order for Nigeria to achieve greatness, the National Unity Movement for Bola Ahmed Tinubu (NUMBAT) has urged all Nigerians to avoid religious and ethnic politics.

In a statement released by the group’s Director of Media and Publicity, Chief Joseph Undu, on Monday in Abuja, the group’s Director General and former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Bamidele Faparusi, warned that the politics of religion and ethnicity posed a grave threat to the future and unity of the country.

Faparusi urged Nigerians to embrace unity in diversity, national integration, and cohesion despite their socio-economic and political differences in response to criticisms surrounding the selection of Kashim Shettima as the running mate of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress.

When voting in 2023, Nigerians should prioritise competence and merit over religious and ethnic factors in selecting leaders who will steer the nation’s affairs in the correct path.

“Even with a Muslim-Muslim ticket, without fear of religious dominance and repression, we are aware of Nigeria’s secularity status, and Tinubu is best suited to defend our secular state.

“NUMBAT, as an independent political support group, is collaborating with other patriotic citizens across religious and ethnic lines to vigorously promote national unity in diversity, national integration, and national cohesion despite our diverse religious leanings, ethnic backgrounds, and political perspectives.”

He urged Nigerians to obtain their PVCs and vote massively for Tinubu in 2023, claiming that the APC presidential candidate was the only one who could save the nation among the other presidential contenders.
