In preparation for the 2023 general election, former President Goodluck Jonathan has advised all candidates and politicians to keep Nigeria’s corporate existence and the well-being of Nigerians in mind.
On Thursday, at Abuja’s annual Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida Legacy Dialogue, he issued the call.
He thinks that other Nigerians should avoid passivity and instead actively engage in the democratic processes of their country in order to elect leaders who will strengthen and unite Nigeria.
The upcoming elections are very important for our national goals, our common good, and our progress. For the sake of our nation’s harmony and peace, I call on our political leaders to conduct themselves with decorum and decorum in their campaigns and other political endeavours.
For the rest of us, this is not a time to sit on the sidelines and do nothing. It is imperative that we all make a concerted effort to take part in our nation’s democratic procedures. To ensure peace, justice, unity, and progress in our land, Jonathan, who spoke virtually, urged the electorate to choose candidates who they believe will carry out government duties with integrity.
