It has been claimed by Atiku Abubakar, candidate for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), that Omoyele Sowore of the African Action Congress (AAC) has little knowledge of Nigeria.

According to a tweet from Atiku on Wednesday in response to the announcement of the newly privatised Nigerian National Petroleum Commission Limited (NNPC Llimited), the APC-led administration had denigrated his ideas to overhaul the NNPA.

According to his statement, “I had made public in 2018 my objectives to overhaul the NNPC in order to increase its profitability, transparency, and efficiency. In the APC-led government, my patriotic perspective was denigrated.

I’m pleased to see that the same government has taken a timid step in the direction of my ideas.” But we’re still a long way off from what I had envisioned at this point.

For me, the potential to build NNPC into a truly world-class business in the mould of Saudi Arabia’s Aramco and Brazil’s Petrobras is something I’m looking forward to.

As a response to the tweet, Sowore slammed the former VP for complaining about the country’s blackout.

Sowore claimed that Atiku was vice president when Olusegun Obasanjo spent $16 billion to resurrect power but didn’t do much.

The National Electrical grid collapse began when you and Obasanjo invested $16 billion to acquire darkness for Nigeria,” Sowore stated. Grid breakdown was made a law by President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration. Why do you act like you care about the national grid, Atiku Abubakar?

Speaking to ARISE TV about the situation, Atiku said that the AAC presidential candidate resides outside of Nigeria and only returns to run for office every four years.

You can expect nothing less from a man who opposes me.” He’s never lived in the United States before. In fact, he has no idea how the policy is being implemented or even how the policy was first proposed. About 4,000 megawatts were being generated when we arrived. A total of nine new power plants were commissioned by us. From 4,000 to 13,000 megawatts of power, the system could handle the completion of those nine towers.

As far as transmission lines are concerned, there has been no corresponding growth in their capacity. Because of the amount of power you’re generating, our transmission cables can’t handle it.

These further nine power stations were constructed by Jonathan. Umaru Yar’adua was on the case. Jonathan took over and finished what he started. If you have an increase in power generation and a transmission system that can’t handle it, you’ll see a collapse in the system.

There is no way for him to be aware of this, because he lives outside of the nation.” He returns every four years to run for president and then leaves again. Failure forces him to start over. When it comes to this country, what is Sowore’s knowledge of it? In other words, “nothing; zero; nil.”
