Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the spokesperson for the Tinubu Campaign Organisation, stated that the former governor of Lagos State has an agreement with the party’s governors to pick his running partner.
Speaking on Trust TV’s Daily Politics on Wednesday, Onanuga said the question of the running mate for the APC’s standard-bearer would be jointly settled.
He claimed that when Tinubu met Progressives Governors Forum (PGF) members, he promised them the vice presidential position.
Onanuga stated that Tinubu has a large enough heart to forgive even those who abandoned him when asked how the ex-governor of Lagos will unify the other aspirants against the opposition PDP.
He pledged that the APC candidate will unite party leaders to achieve the party’s triumph.
After months of playing hide-and-seek over zoning, the Eagle Square presidential primary of the APC produced the former governor of Lagos State as its nominee.
Tinubu, who received 1,271 votes, was followed by former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, who received 316 votes; Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who received 235 votes; Senate President Ahmad Lawan, who received 152 votes; Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, who received 47 votes to place fifth; and Cross River State Governor, Ben Ayade, who received 37 votes to place sixth.
Tinubu will now compete in the presidential election against the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and candidates of the country’s sixteen other political parties.
