At least two people have been reported dead after violence broke out at the location of the All Progressives Congress House of Assembly primary election in the Alimosho neighbourhood of Lagos.

Muftau Ogunlaye and Suraju Dauda were recognised as the victims who perished, while several others had injuries of different severity.
One of the videos that went viral after the Friday evening incident showed individuals fleeing to safety as gunshots rang out. In another film, a crowd gathered around a bleeding, seemingly lifeless man.

Sources stated that “four people were killed,” however authorities confirmed only two deaths.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, informed our correspondent that violence broke out after the election results were declared.

He stated, “Two individuals were slain. Muftau Ogunlaye, 44, and Suraju Dauda, 42, were their ages. No arrest has been made yet. In the area, a primary election was taking place. After the results were announced, they began to fight.
