Adegboyega Oyetola, governor of Osun State and candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the 16 November governorship election, said that the party’s leadership is still analysing the results of the election.

In a statement sent by his Chief Press Secretary, Ismail Omipidan, Oyetola indicated that he had taken note of the election results as reported by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and that his party will respond after evaluating the outcome.

The governor said that the APC would respond appropriately after analysing the results and engaging with key party members.

He urged his followers to remain calm and the citizens of the state to go about their daily lives unimpeded.

The governor charged security personnel with maintaining law and order and preventing conduct that could lead to lawlessness.

Senator Adeleke received 403,371 votes to defeat Oyetola, who received 375,027 votes, while Labour Party candidate Lasun Yusuf received 2,729.

Senator Adeleke won in 17 local government areas against Oyetola’s 13 before being declared elected by Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos and Chief Returning Officer for INEC.
