The Senate caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has wished Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo good success in his bid to lead Nigeria.
On Monday, Osinbajo formally entered the presidential candidacy for 2023.
On Tuesday, he invited the lawmakers at his official house, Aguda House, within the Presidential Villa in Abuja, for Iftar supper.
The meeting was place behind closed doors, but Ahmad Lawan, the Senate President, who escorted the APC senators to the Villa, informed reporters what happened.
“Naturally, the Vice President told us that he has indicated his desire and that he wants to discuss with the Senate APC caucus,” Lawan added when pressed further.
“He wanted us to hear what he had to say, which we did, and he was asking for our help in any manner we could at the proper moment, and we wish the Vice President well in this endeavour.”
“However, let me assure everyone that the Senate APC caucus, as well as the APC caucus in the National Assembly, will continue to work very hard to ensure that our great party, the APC, continues to provide services to Nigerians and that, by the grace of God, by 2023, the next administration is an APC administration at the centre and the majority of the States in our country are APC.”
