According to the Kebbi State Police, bandits killed 66 people in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area.
DSP Nafiu Abubakar, spokesperson of the state police command, said the massacre occurred in eight villages in the local council on Thursday.
He said that although the police were still counting the dead, the state police had already dispatched officers and men of the force to the area.
“The killings took place in Koro, Kimpi, Gaya, Dimi, Zutu, Rafin Gora, and Iguenge villages, all in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.”
According to the Daily Trust, the vast majority of the inhabitants of the affected villages are sheltered in Riba.
