Anambra state authorities have arrested and paraded a 48-year-old man accused of defiling his 3 daughters.
The Anambra State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) paraded Thomas Igbo from Ikolo, Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area of Enugu State for alleged child defilement.
His wife and four children live with him in Enugwu-Ukwu, part of the Njikoka Local Government Area in Anambra State, where he allegedly sexually abused three of his daughters, aged 8 years, 4 years, and 18 months old.
While his 4-year-old daughter allegedly confirmed the molestation to Child Protection Network, the human rights group that facilitated the suspect’s arrest, the suspect allegedly confessed to sexually abusing his oldest daughter but denied molestation of the two other daughters.
According to a medical report from the Ntasi Centre, General Hospital Enugwu-Ukwu, all three children have been molested multiple times.
According to the suspect, he only interacted with his eight-year-old daughter once and blamed his behavior on alcohol.
State Commandant of the NSCDC, Mr David Billie of Bayelsa state said investigations were ongoing and a case will be filed shortly after the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) ends its strike and the court resumes full activities.
According to Mrs Okwuchukwu Chukwuenyem, the Spokesperson of Child Protection Network, the case was brought to their attention after a neighbor noticed the man’s behavior.
Apparently, the man took the children separately on a daily basis, mostly between 9pm and 10:30pm, but what made the neighbor suspicious was when the man allegedly heard the children saying “e sweet” to the neighbor’s ears.
