On 25th May, 2021 at about 1302 hours, hoodlums in their number attacked the reconstruction site of Orji Divisional Headquarters which had earlier been burned by hoodlums during the End SARS protest in 2020. The reconstruction project was contracted by a philanthropist. In an effort to prevent themselves from committing their nefarious acts in Orji and environ, hoodlums decided to invade the construction site. As reinforcements approached, the hoodlums melted into the neighbouring townships but abandoned their operational vehicles. CP Abutu Yaro, fdc, the Commissioner of Police of Imo State, personally led an enforcement team to the scene. The whole area was cordoned and five suspects, namely Chigaemezu Sabastine ‘m' 26years old, Casmir Ibe ‘m' 36years old, John Chinonso ‘m' 24years old, Chukwudi Okoro ‘m' 28years and Alozie Daberechi ‘m' 25years old were arrested. There was no loss of life. A total of three vehicles were recovered. During the mop up operation, more suspects are being arrested and their firearms are being seized.
