Teacher at Government Secondary School (GSS), Abuja, has been kidnapped.
The victim, identified as Daramola Onyeaka Matina, was kidnapped from inside her home at Shadadi community in Kuje Local Council.
It happened in the early morning on Tuesday, according to a family member who preferred anonymity.
She reported that the kidnappers broke into her residence around 12:34am armed to the teeth.
“They gained access to her home through the back door. They used a sledge hammer and an axe to destroy the door while others stood outside and surrounded it. “She was taken away at gunpoint,” he said.
According to him, the family has been able to establish contact with her abductors, who are demanding N10 million ransom.
“We established contact with her abductors on Tuesday evening, and they demanded N10 million ransom, though the negotiation is still underway,” said he.
In a telephone interview, the Kuje branch secretary of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Comrade Shamaki Nathan Magaji, confirmed the abduction.
The branch has informed the state union about the incident, he said.
ASP Maryam Yusuf, spokesperson for the FCT police command, asked our reporter to text her, but she had not replied as of the time of this report.
