Hi-Impact TV, Nigeria’s first full HD television studio, has been destroyed by fire in Ogun. The television studio is located at Kilometre 12 Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ibafo in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun.
On Thursday, the station caught fire and its studio was burnt to ashes.
In a statement on Friday, the Ogun State Fire Services confirmed the incident.
Bunkunola Kuti, the fire service’s Public Relations Officer, said the fire was caused by a power surge and was quickly controlled and extinguished by firefighters.
Firefighters from the Isheri fire station of the Ogun State Fire Service, led by Area Commander Engr Akinwande Abiodun, responded to the fire call at the studio.
In spite of the fact that no lives were lost in the unfortunate incident, valuables in the studio were burned to ashes.
On behalf of the State Government, the Commissioner for Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Barrister Femi Ogunbanwo, and Director of the State Fire Services, Fatai Adefala, visited the scene to sympathise with the management and staff.
