Alhaji Usman Babatunde Zulu and Abdulhakeem Aminu were abducted on Saturday in Alapa, Asa Local Government Area of Kwara State. Another person was killed in the process.
He is the brother of a former Commissioner for Energy and former Chairman of the state’s local government, Alhaji Tajudeen Zulu Oloje, who is now a block merchant.
A second victim, Aminu, lives in Ilorin West Local Government Area, in Anifowose.
About 10 armed men in uniform stormed the hotel of Babatunde on Saturday night and fired sporadically into the air before the victims were kidnapped.
One of their fired shots however hit Razaq of Oloje area, Ilorin, who died at the front of the hotel.
After the incident, the former commissioner told Daily Trust that his brother (Babatunde) miraculously escaped from his abductors. However, he sustained gunshot wounds.
He said that he had been taken to a private hospital for treatment.
According to credible sources in the area, the abductors demanded N16m from the family of the victim.
According to a statement signed by Ajayi Okasanmi, Kwara State Command Public Relations Officer, the kidnap target was Babatunde, the owner of the hotel, who escaped into the bush during the attack with injuries.
However, he lamented that Abdulhakeem Aminu of Anifowose, Ilorin was kidnapped.
