Nwa-Aba, a 32-year-old man, was allegedly shot by an NSCDC employee in Cross River State, Nigeria, early yesterday morning, according to reports.

While peeing in front of the Corps’ Calabar, Cross River State headquarters, an NSCDC employee allegedly opened fire on the victim.

According to an eyewitness who spoke to The Nation, Nwa-Aba was shot twice in the waist while he discharged himself around 50 meters away from the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps headquarters.

According to the eyewitness, “

A Civil Defence officer opened fire as he was peeing in a public place. To make ends meet, he works as an au pair at the Petroleum Tankers Drivers’ Park . He’s been brought to the hospital, and we have no idea how he’s doing just yet.”

Nwa-life Aba’s may have been in danger had the gunshots struck him, according to witness Bright Uzo.

In his own words, Uzo said:

Were there any suspicions that he could be about to do anything criminal? Because he was simply urinating, they shot him before realizing what was happening. He shouldn’t shoot him even if he was at their fence. He’s not a criminal, he’s only responding to the call of the wild.”

According to reports, a group of adolescents staged a demonstration after the shooting and demanded justice for the victim. Officials from the National Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) were able to disperse the crowd, however.

It has been revealed that Solomon John, an NSCDC spokesperson, is investigating the event. John stated:

This morning (Wednesday) we arrived at the scene to find out what occurred since it happened in the early hours and only cops who were on night duty observed it. In an interview, he added, “I can tell you that there is a continuing inquiry,” adding that “the person is alright.”
