In Lagos State’s Lekki tollgate, a guy brandishing a cutlass was detained.

Despite police warnings, throngs of teenagers gathered on the tollgate on Wednesday to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the EndSARS demonstrations.

In order to prevent thugs from hijacking the demonstrations, the police had stated they would not allow anybody to congregate there.

Security personnel, on the other hand, permitted a car procession.

Lagos Police Commissioner Hakeem Odumosu said the parade may take place between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m.

The protesters began to show up around 10 a.m. with banners and signs against the administration.

To disperse the demonstrators, police had used tear gas, but the crowd had scattered briefly before regrouping.

As soon as possible after that, a guy in denim shorts and a multicolor shirt was taken into custody with a cutlass.

Other protestors yelled for his freedom as cops rounded him up.

The Commissioner of Police authorized the journalist’s release after protestors and a journalist were detained at the tollgate earlier.

Odumosu made this statement to reporters on the demonstration grounds.

They (the organizers) agreed to stop the demonstration at 10 o’clock, so I spoke to them about it. It’s a bother if someone else does it right now.

People carrying firearms and machetes are miscreants; are they protesters?”
