After intestinal surgery, Pope Francis slept well and got up to walk, the Vatican announced on Tuesday.
Matteo Bruni, the Vatican spokesman, said routine tests came back good.
In a statement, he said that the pope also ate breakfast and read several newspapers.
Pope Francis underwent a three-hour operation on Sunday night to remove part of his colon. If there are no complications, he is expected to stay in Rome’s Gemelli hospital for seven days.
