Professor Chukwuma Soludo has been declared the winner of the Anambra State governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Election Returning Officer Professor Florence Obi delivered her announcement at precisely 1:50 a.m. Wednesday.
According to her, Soludo had the most votes cast and had met all of the qualifications to win.
Anambra’s gubernatorial elections were held on November 6 and 9, 2021; “Prof. Florence Obi, returning officer, certifies that the election was held and Prof. Charles Soludo has been pronounced the winner and returned elected,” she announced.
According to her, Soludo received 112,229 votes, followed by Mr. Valentine Ozigbo of the PDP with 53,807 votes, and Senator Andy Uba of the APC with 53,807 votes.
Ex-National Chairman of APGA, Senator Victor Umeh, asked those who lost to join the party in order to bring the state ahead, notwithstanding the result.
He said that the Anambra people had spoken and should be respected.
Chief Chinuzo Obiako, an All Progressives Congress (APC) official, also spoke out, saying the party will meet to deliberate on its next course of action.
