The De Facto Customary Government of Biafra, headed by former militant Asari Dokubo, has said that the November 6, 2021 Governorship election in Anambra State must go forward.
Mr. Uche Okafor-Mefor, Head of Information and Communication, said this in a statement imploring IPOB not to deprive State citizens the right to vote.
The De facto Biafra Customary Government called the sit-at-home order illegal and demanded that the federal government immediately remove its security personnel from the area, citing the use of violence against Igbos as unacceptable.
Due to the complexities of current events, hydra-headed security difficulties, and other factors negatively impacting the indigenous civilian populations of Nigeria, the De Facto Customary. The organisation told Vanguard.
In order to preserve the lives of Biafrans on their land, the hydra-headed government condemns the continuous wanton devastation of lives and property in Biafraland by both state and non-state actors, regardless of their intentions.
As a result, the DCFGB announces its support for the Biafran people’s right to vote and be voted for in Biafraland in the present and future elections.
The De Facto Customary Government of Biafra affirms that elections in Anambra State and elsewhere in Biafraland must hold by the existing laws; that any boycott of the Anambra elections and others elsewhere remains futile, counterproductive, and incapable of invalidating the electoral process because a winner must emerge eventually by the circumstances strongly urged to go out and vote
In addition to boycotting elections, other immoral practises detrimental to the promotion of the Biafran cause must be immediately discouraged.
In reality, the best way to control political power is to engage and go through the democratic process itself, or else they will be aiding the same Fulani-controlled Nigerian state to militarise Biafraland, impose a state of emergency, kill more Biafrans, rig the elections, and fraudulently install their stooges.
“That the De Facto Customary Government of Biafra also condemns without any equivocation the connected systematic subjecting of Biafrans to torture and the targeted killing of Biafrans on Biafran territory.” These are horrific acts against the law, and the world community considers them atrocities.
This is to urge the Nigerian government to immediately remove its troops from the Biafran area and arrest and prosecute any security personnel complicit in crimes against humanity, enforced disappearances, and extra-judicial executions in Biafraland.
“The De Facto Customary Government of Biafra rejects and deplores any torture or death of Biafrans on Biafran land. Anyone or group of persons who commits this crime is now the enemy of the people.
This illegality helps the ever lawful Biafran cause, and the De Facto Customary Government of Biafra endorses any civil disobedience acts committed by Biafrans in reaction or protest. In this context, any volunteer sit-at-home in keeping with the stated goal is welcome.”
In Biafraland, however, any violent implementation of such practise resulting to coercive mobility restriction and economic damage must be contested. In addition, we remind you that enforcing any such sit-at-home exercise with violence is illegal, and anybody who does so is a criminal.
Finalement, the De Facto Customary Government of Biafra announces that Biafra is our heritage and will protect it and her people. Biafrans live! “Long live Biafra.”
