Three security sources reported that 12 soldiers were killed in an attack in northwestern Burkina Faso on Sunday, and seven others are missing.
The army did not immediately comment. The incident reportedly took place in the Toeni commune in the Boucle du Mouhoun region near the Mali border. The attack was not claimed by any group.
According to the Communications Ministry, a special army unit killed two prominent jihadists in the same region on Saturday.
