Nine soldiers, five mobile police officers, and three members of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps were among those killed, Mr Gobir said.
Several security agents have not been found since Friday following the attack, according to the lawmaker.
Childhood friend of one of the civil defence officers who died in the attack, Rilwanu Nagwaria, identified the slain officer simply as Sulaiman as a hero.
“He gave his life for the freedom of others… We should never forget that freedom comes with a price, and we should also remember who paid it,” Nagwaria said.
According to a security source at the Sokoto Police Command, the corpses had been deposited at the Specialist Hospital in Sokoto.
