On Monday, June 14, suspected terrorists attacked PGP company in Birnin Tudu, Bakura Local Government Area of Zamfara State, killing six people including two officers from the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
According to reports, the suspected terrorists attacked a company where Chinese nationals worked. At Bakalori Dam in the state’s Maradun Local Government Area, the Chinese PGP Company is working on a Trimming Project for the Bakori Irrigation Scheme. The project aims at converting irrigation farms in the area into modern canals instead of sprinklers that are currently used by thousands of farmers.
According to Eyewitness News, the terrorists spent an hour and a half attacking the company, killing two civilians in addition to the security personnel who were shot while performing evening Muslim prayers. The terrorists set ablaze the patrol vehicle of the security operatives and fled with weapons.
The incident took place in Gora village at a site called MS Team, where expatriates from China working for the PGP Company were working at the time of the attack, according to an eyewitness.
Zaharaddeen Sani, a police officer attached to the Talata-Mafara Divisional Police Headquarters, and Tanimun Muhammed, a civilian from Mafara, were killed. The attack did not affect any expatriates, and no one was abducted.
The deceased agents include Ahmed Murtala, CTU Sgt Yusuf Usama, Sgt. Ibrahim Bello, Sgt. Zaharadden Yusuf, NSCDC Sani Abubakar, and Tanimu Muhammad, a driver.
NSCDC officer, Sirajo Aliyu, is being treated at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Gusau after being injured.
