Around 200 students of an Islamiyya school in Tegina, Rafi local government area of Niger State, have been abducted.
In the early hours of Sunday, Tegina was attacked.
Sources said scores of students were kidnapped, but the number could not be verified.
Salahu Tanko Islamic school students are said to have been the victims.
Two people were shot in the attack, with one person confirmed dead.
Many people took cover to avoid being shot by the bandits, according to a security source.
The State Government is gathering information on the attack in order to secure the release of those kidnapped.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, could not be reached for comment.
