In Katsina State, bandits have attacked the villages of Kanawa and Runka, killing at least six people
According to a resident of Kanawa village, the attackers arrived Saturday evening and dispersed the villagers.
“When we heard the roar of their motorcycles, we all fled into the bush, but they chased some of us and shot six and injured others.
“As I speak with you now (Sunday morning), we have just finished burying the six dead and three more injured.
“One is receiving medical care in Katsina and the other two at the Danmusa hospital,” he said.
Around 6:30 pm, the bandits arrived in about 60 motorcycles, he said, and took away some domestic animals belonging to newly wed brides in the villages.
SP Gambo Isah, the Police spokesman in Katsina, said that the command had not received a report from the DPO of the area but would contact him for confirmation.
Few days earlier, the Police repelled a bandit attack on Wurma and Yarbudu villages in the Kurfi Local Government Area, in which at least five of the attackers were killed.
According to the command’s spokesman, over 150 bandits riding on motorcycles invaded villages on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
On 02/06/2021 at about 17:30hrs, one hundred and fifty (150) bandits on motorbikes, armed with AK 47 rifles attacked Wurma and Yarbudu villages, Kurfi LGA.
“The Police Mobile Force (PMF) personnel stationed in Wurma village engaged the hoodlums in a fierce gun battle and repulsed their attack.
“One was neutralized, and many others received gunshot wounds.
One of the bandits’ motorcycles was also recovered.”
He stated that policemen led by Area Commander, Dutsinma, blocked the escape route of the bandits at Yarbudu village and engaged them in a gun duel, where four bandits were neutralized, and five of their motorcycles were recovered.
