Bandits have broken into the Isa Kaita College of Education in Dutsinma, Katsina State, and abducted the children of Dr Isma’il Ado Funtua, deputy provost of the institution.
The incident was confirmed by a source close to Ado Funtua.
According to the source, heavily armed men invaded the campus on Monday night.
On Monday, at approximately 11:30 pm, four heavily armed terrorists broke into the residence of the college’s Deputy Provost, Dr Isma’il Ado Funtua, and abducted three of his children.
“His gateman was not at the gate when they arrived. They removed the padlock from the door and entered the house.
“While they were there, the gateman returned and they asked him about his boss, and he said he wasn’t there.
They entered the parlor and met the young men who were reading. “They kidnapped the gateman along with three of the children, Usman, Aminu and Abdullahi, but a fourth young man managed to escape,” the source said, requesting anonymity.
However, the source noted that while on their way, the kidnappers released the gateman and took the man’s children with them.
24 hours earlier, bandits had kidnapped four children from a village in Katsina.
On Monday morning, gunmen stormed Sabuwar Kasa village in Kafur Local Government Area of Katsina State and abducted Alhaji Hamza Umar’s children.
Sabuwar Kasa’s village head, Umar, is also the head of the local government administration in Funtua Local Government Council.
SP Isah Gambo, the police spokesman in Katsina, could not be reached for comment at the time of filing this report.
