Emmanuel Baptist Church in Kakau Daji, Chikun Local Government Area, Kaduna State, was stormed by Bandits and at least 60 congregants were kidnapped, according to reports.
The armed group broke inside the church and began firing randomly during Sunday worship.
The incident was reported to Daily Trust by the Kaduna chapter chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Reverend John Hayab.
Because there was no telecommunications network in the region, he claimed the event occurred on Sunday but no information had been released by Monday.
Some sources reported up to 100 individuals were kidnapped, but according to the head of the CAN, he could only confirm the abduction of 60 persons.
About 60 worshipers had gone missing as of yesterday (Monday), and one person had died. When the shooters arrived, they initially headed to the children’s church, then changed their minds and encircled the church,” he added. They held a singing service that day.
When individuals noticed the robbers, he claims, they fled, and the bandits opened fire, killing one of them instantaneously.
State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs Samuel Aruwan acknowledged the assault and the death of one worshipper, but he remained mum on the number of individuals kidnapped in Kaduna.
Yusuf Dauda was the name given by Aruwan to the dead.
