The younger sister of Hon. Shehu Dalhatu Tafoki, Deputy Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, has been kidnapped.
Asma’u Dalhatu, the victim, is about to meet the lawmaker.
According to reports, gunmen stormed Tafoki village in Faskari Local Government Area of the state and abducted the victim.
He confirmed the incident saying, “Yes, it is true that my sister, Asma’u Dalhatu, was abducted by bandits on Sunday morning.”.
They stormed the town around 1am and headed straight for the village head’s house, which is our family house, where they kidnapped two of our sisters.
“On their way to the forest, they encountered a vigilante group and exchanged gunfire. As a result, one of the girls escaped and returned home, while the other was unable to run away, so they took her with them,” he said.
He said there has been no demand for ransom from the kidnappers.
The incident occurred shortly after gunmen stormed Kurami village in Bakori Local Government Area of the state, where they abducted the wife and children of Dr Ibrahim Kurami, who is also a member of the Katsina assembly.
Katsina and the North West have seen many disturbing incidents.
