At least 20 people have been killed and several others abducted by bandits in Gatawa, a village in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The deadly attack took place on Tuesday night, September 28, barely 24 hours after another attack in the same local government area.
The kidnapped woman’s sister, Rahila Adamu Galadima, is said to be among those living in the area.
Gobir did not know how many people were killed in the attack.
Mr Gobir said that terrorists raided Gatawa last night, taking much of the village’s value, killing a number of residents, and abducting several more. His sister, Rahila Galadima, was one of the women taken by the bandits.
The attackers came on motorcycles as usual and began shooting. They went from house to house looking for food and other things, but they also killed 20 people,” he said.
Sanusi Abubakar, the police spokesperson in Sokoto, said he was attending a meeting and would call back afterward.
Saidu Ibrahim, a member of the Sokoto House of Assembly representing Sabon Birni South, said the attacks have become unbearable.
There are a lot of people I know who have died and been injured (in the Gangara one attack). Your action is very disheartening.
