Ten people, including seven Nigerien soldiers, were reportedly killed on Tuesday when bandits attacked Batsari and Kadobe communities in Katsina State.
Also in Batsari town, the bandits abducted 17 people, including eight Islamiyya school pupils and a teacher.
According to a resident of Batsari, one of the victims, who was his aunt, died of cardiac arrest after being shot by the bandits.
Other villagers died from stray bullets; one from the gunmen and the other from security men who engaged the bandits.
When the bandits attacked Batsari, we learned that the security men were at Dankar village, which was surrounded by bandits. Eight people were abducted by the gunmen during the attack.
During a Tuesday evening lesson on school property, Sakkai school pupils and their teacher were abducted.
On Monday, about seven Nigerien soldiers were reportedly killed and others went missing in Kadobe village located about four kilometres from Kukar Babangida village in Jibia LGA.
About 500 gunmen on more than a hundred motorbikes stormed the village, local residents told Newsmen.
The Katsina police spokesman, SP Gambo Isah, said he would contact the DPO in Batsari for confirmation and said he could not comment on the Faskari incident because the military-controlled the area.
