On Sunday, bandits blocked two major roads in Sokoto State and killed two people and abducted several others.
The bandits blocked the Sokoto-Gusau road where at least 60 road users were abducted Sunday morning.
But later that afternoon, around 5pm, they killed two people and abducted several others while blocking Wurno-Goronyo road.
Yahuza Abubakar Chika, the General Manager of the Sokoto Mass Transit, who confirmed the attack on Sokoto-Gusau road, said one of their buses was damaged.
“The bandits snatched the driver of the bus and one other passenger, and took the rest of the passengers into the bush,” he said.
Abubakar Arzika, Chairman of Wurno Local Government Area, confirmed the attack on Wurno-Goronyo and said that two people, including a lady, were killed by the bandits.
Nevertheless, he could not confirm that other passengers were abducted, saying the police were still investigating the case.
ASP Sanusi Abubakar, the spokesman for the Sokoto State Police Command, could not be reached for comment.
