A vigilance group has been killed by bandits along Kaduna-Birnin Gwari highway in Kaduna state.
According to sources, the attack took place around 5:30 pm on Tuesday.
Liman Husaini Udawa, a community leader who confirmed the attack to Daily Trust, said the victims were attacked near Unguwar Yako.
When the incident occurred, the vigilantes had just returned from Kaduna.
The bandits ambushed and set ablaze their vehicle near unguwar Yako along the highway. We have recovered five bodies of our vigilantes so far, but three escaped,” he said.
The bodies will be buried in Udawa town in Chikun Local Government Area of the state.
ASP Jalige Mohammed, the State Police Command Public Relations Officer, did not answer calls or reply to text messages sent to his phone as of the date of this report.
