Gunmen who attacked Federal Government College, Birnin Yauri in Kebbi State, transported their victims in a bus owned by their parents.
On Thursday, students and staff were abducted from the school.
According to a teacher who declined to be named, they received information about a plan to invade Birnin Yauri community prior to the attack.
Last week, a detachment of mobile police officers was deployed to prevent an attack on the school.
After the bandits struck, the security operatives engaged them in a shootout, but they were overpowered.
After abducting the victims, the bandits used a bus belonging to the parent of the student who came to the school to pick up his son on Saturday, to evacuate them.
The school authorities couldn’t conduct a headcount as a result of the chaos after the attack, he said.
All I can tell you now is that one of the policemen guarding the school was killed. Bandits abducted many of our students, both male and female. It is a co-educational school, and it is a Federal Government College.
“Three or four teachers were abducted from the college. A vice principal and a female teacher are among the abductees. Two students were reportedly shot by the bandits. The boy was shot in the buttocks and the girl was shot in the arm.”
State Police spokesperson DSP Nafiu Abubakar did not return calls placed to him or send a text message to him.
Abubakar later issued a statement, saying that the police were pursuing the bandits.
