Around 60 worshipers in Kaduna State were abducted, and their abductors are demanding sacks of rice and groundnut oil to feed the victims.

Daily Trust previously reported on gunmen storming Emanuel Baptist Church in Kakau Daji, Kaduna’s Chikun Local Government Area, a week ago.

Shauntv learned that the robbers threatened to starve the victims if food was not delivered.

Reverend John Hayab, Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Kaduna, informed Daily Trust that the abductors are wanting a large sum of money as ransom.

According to a community member whose relatives are among those seized, the bandits came on Thursday night to demand food from the community.

On the condition of anonymity, he stated, “We were informed that they phoned on Thursday night wanting five bags of rice, four liters of groundnut oil, a Maggi box, and salt, stating that failing to give these things would result in the victims becoming hungry.”

He continued by stating that the robbers seem to be more concerned with the groceries they say would be used to feed the victims.

He said that they repeatedly stated that if food supplies are not given, the victims would go hungry.

Samuel Aruwan, the State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, confirmed the kidnapping in a statement issued a day after the event, adding that the bandits also murdered one worshipper.
