Abubakar Garba Muhammad, Chief Engineer of Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi, has been killed at his residence in Burshin Fulani area on Bauchi-Dass road in the state.
Gunmen were reported to have infiltrated his residence in the early hours of Saturday.
The neighbour of the deceased, who was also attacked, is receiving treatment at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital (ATBU-TH).
The institution’s management confirmed the tragic incident in a statement, noting that burial plans were ongoing.
According to the statement,
“Innalillahi Wainnailaihi Rajiun, Unknown Gunmen killed one of our staff, Chief Engineer, Abubakar Garba Muhammad (Babangida Birshi) of Directorate of Physical Planning around 2.30am at his resident in Burshin Fulani.”His Funeral (Jana’iza) prayers as announced by the family will hold by 9.00am in Burshin Fulani Mosque behind his house. May Allah forgive his shortcomings and grants his soul Jannatil Firdausi.”
Police spokesman Ahmed Wakil confirmed the incident and said that efforts were being made to find the attackers.
According to Wakil, the victim died on the spot after being shot in the neck.
The medical staff at the teaching hospital confirmed that he had died after being rushed to the scene by our personnel.
Residents in Burshin Fulani have been panicked by the incident.
According to Ibrahim Mohammed, a Burshin Fulani resident, “We have never seen anything like this in Burshin Fulani.”. We are asking authorities to beef up security in the area.”
