A former governor of Lagos State and national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is being investigated, according to Abdulrasheed Bawa, chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Bawa said in an exclusive interview on Sunday that investigation doesn’t end in a day.
Earlier, you asked me a question about arresting people before investigation, and now you’re asking why we didn’t arrest Tinubu? Couldn’t you just say ‘arrest him’?’
“The investigation is ongoing. These matters don’t end in a day when you are investigating them. On a daily basis, thousands of investigations are conducted.
“Do you understand?” You are a member of the media. You will then say, “We are having a media trial.”
As head of the Lagos Zonal Office, Bawa was said to have requested Tinubu’s assets declaration form.
Former CEO of Alpha Beta LLP, Mr. Dapo Apara, has sued Tinubu seeking to prevent him from “controlling the finances of Alpha Beta.”
Mr Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa (SAN) filed the suit on behalf of Apara on Wednesday.
