The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has a new director-general: President Muhammadu Buhari has replaced Professor Armstrong Idachaba.
Idachaba was replaced by Mr Balarabe Shehu Ilelah, a veteran broadcaster.
Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information and Culture, announced Ilelah’s appointment in an Abuja statement on Friday.
Mr. Ilelah’s appointment is initially for a five-year term.
Idachaba’s removal was announced four days after he ordered all broadcast stations in the country to go off Twitter.
As part of the government’s suspension of Twitter, the directive was issued
