The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, is currently holding meetings with the Libyan Prime Minister, Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Dbeibeh and members of his entourage arrived at the Presidential Villa at about 10:05 a.m., and President Buhari greeted them.
Members of the president’s cabinet and some of his aides were also present at the forecourt of the villa.
According to Buhari, most illegal weapons in Nigeria are brought in from Libya.
It is expected that the two leaders will discuss bilateral issues meant to benefit and enhance the economies of both countries.
Additionally, NAN reported that Dbeibeh would use the meeting with the Nigerian leader to commiserate with him and the people of Nigeria over the death of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Last Friday, Ibrahim Attahiru and ten other military officers were killed.
On May 25, the Libyan leader attended the Extraordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC) in Abuja. (NAN)
